Naturally dyed, hand-spun alpaca scarf - was £35
Handspun alpaca from animals within the weavers own community in the Puno area, complemented with natural dyes from the locality, give this alpaca scarf its clearly handmade character. Thickly spun alpaca is then woven in and out of the scarf at either end to produce a bobble effect.
The natural dye project was created last year by a young, quietly-spoken, engineering graduate. She has formed a group of a dozen young people in their 20s who have combed the hills, valleys and jungles of Peru to try to develop the natural dye pallette available. We are very keen to support the sustainable and responsible use of natural dyes and will be working with this project on new products for next year.
One of the best things about these shawls, which you unfortunately cannot appreciate on the internet, is the softness to the touch of this handspun alpaca.
